Anthropic Drops Mythos Today—Crypto Braces For A Fable With A $1T IPO Ending 🏛️
Anthropic is set to release the public version of its most powerful AI model, internally referred to as "Claude Fable" and part of the company's Mythos line, according to a report from The Information. The release follows weeks of internal warnings from Anthropic that the model could pose severe risks to global financial infrastructure, and it lands as the artificial intelligence firm has confidentially filed for a U.S. initial public offering with the Securities and Exchange Commission at a potential valuation of up to $1 trillion. Rival OpenAI has also confidentially filed for an IPO.
Crypto traders are positioning around the launch. Polymarket data shows an 84% chance that Anthropic releases the model on the day of publication. Market commentator The Milk Road cautioned that the drop could generate short-term FUD and price chop in digital assets, while characterizing the risk of a crypto hack as minimal. Beyond the immediate market reaction, The Milk Road wrote that the likely path is for AI-related developments to remain a recurring background factor for the sector.
The launch also comes against a shifting U.S. policy backdrop. President Donald Trump signed an AI executive order that addresses AI security and proposes that developers provide the government with access to models they classify as "covered frontier models." Anthropic did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the public rollout, the executive order's implications, or the timing of any IPO-related disclosures.
The combination of a frontier-model release, an executive order on AI oversight, and a $1 trillion IPO target has placed Anthropic at the center of debate over how advanced AI systems should be governed before they reach public deployment.
