Brick by Brick: Flint Drops a Vault on Lagoon and Mortgages the Future of DeFi 🏗️

By our DeFi Desk2 min read

Flint launched a new vault on June 8, 2026, built on Lagoon Finance's ERC-7540 infrastructure, marking a step in bringing tokenized real-world assets, starting with real estate in developed European markets, into decentralized finance rails. The launch was accompanied by Merkl-powered incentive rewards for participants, adding an additional earnings layer on top of exposure to institutional-grade real estate opportunities routed through on-chain infrastructure. The move lands as token incentives contract and market cycles mature, conditions that have accelerated investor interest in yield tied to underlying assets rather than purely speculative activity.

Real estate represents hundreds of trillions of dollars in global value, but access has historically been gated by geography, capital minimums, and administrative overhead. Flint's vault structure is designed to lower those barriers by leveraging Lagoon's standardized ERC-7540 vault framework, which manages capital flows, fund operations, and reporting for tokenized investment products. "When you're building around real-world assets, infrastructure becomes part of the product," said Lucas Lareginie, founder of Lend.xyz. "You can't simply take tooling designed for crypto-native liquidity and expect it to work seamlessly with assets that operate on different timelines and settlement cycles. We chose Lagoon because it was built specifically for tokenized investment products, allowing us to focus on sourcing opportunities and risk management rather than reinventing core infrastructure."

Lagoon Finance framed the integration as part of a broader push to formalize how off-chain opportunities are routed on-chain. "Tokenized investment products require infrastructure designed for more than simple asset transfers," said Nadia Sergejuk, COO of Lagoon Finance. "As real-world assets continue moving on-chain, we need frameworks that support transparency, operational efficiency, and investor accessibility from day one. We're excited to see Flint leveraging Lagoon powered ERC-7540 infrastructure to bring a broader range of real-world opportunities into DeFi."

Industry participants have pointed to the shift in tone within DeFi as catalysts for the rollout. "Crypto has spent the last decade proving that financial infrastructure can live on-chain," Lareginie said. "The question now is what kinds of assets and cash flows can move through that infrastructure. We see real estate as one of the most important answers to that question." The Merkl-powered incentives run alongside the vault to support early participation, with additional details on incentive mechanics distributed through the campaign infrastructure.
