Ripple Hands AI Agents the Keys to XRP, Because Apparently the Bots Need Wallets Now 🤖

Ripple has launched the XRPL AI Starter Kit, a developer toolkit designed to enable autonomous AI agents to send and receive payments in XRP and RLUSD on the XRP Ledger. The rollout was announced in a company blog post and is structured in phases, with Phase 1 focused on simplifying the creation of agent-powered applications on the network.

The first phase introduces the XRPL Docs MCP Server, which allows developers to query XRPL documentation through MCP-compatible clients such as Claude Code and custom agent frameworks. Two additional components, the XRPL Agent Wallet Skill and the XRPL Payment Skill for Claude, give Claude structured access to common XRP Ledger operations, allowing agents to perform routine wallet and payment functions.

The launch comes as Mastercard announced a partnership with Ripple to build "Agent Pay for Machines," a payment network tailored for AI agents. Ripple said the new toolkit extends its existing work to integrate AI into the XRP ecosystem, following prior efforts to apply AI tools to bolster XRPL security for tokenization and institutional use cases.

The XRPL AI Starter Kit arrives as payment and infrastructure providers increasingly position agentic commerce as a use case for blockchain rails. Ripple framed the kit as a foundation for developers building applications in which AI agents can transact natively on the ledger using XRP, the network's native token, or RLUSD, Ripple's stablecoin.

No timeline was given for subsequent phases of the rollout, and Ripple did not disclose financial terms of the Mastercard partnership.
